Fall Camp Out

Join Us at Artillery Ridge!

  • When: Saturday, September 27th after 1pm
  • Where: 610 Taneytown Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325
  • Special Note: This is for immediate family only and scouts sleep with their adult partner
  • Registration: $8 Per Person for Food. Dinner will be tacos, potentially the walking type. Registration closes on September 20th. Please fill out the registration form below so we have an accurate head count.
  • Arriving Early?: The park is just a few minutes from the Gettysburg battleground. So if you want to arrive early you can explore the site, the town or the museum. There is also a Civil War Field Games Reenactment occurring that weekend. This occurs at a sister park to ours and information to be provided regarding entry to this event which should be included with our stay.

1-2pm: Arrival & Setup

2-4pm: Pack Activities (Fishing)

4-5pm: Den Activities

5:30/6: Dinner

7pm: Campfire

9pm: Lights Out

7/8am: Breakfast 

9am:  Camp Cleanup

10am: Optional Hike/Departure 

Weather Plan: In the event that we are expecting inclement weather on September 27th we are hoping to reserve the VFW for Saturday afternoon/evening and so we can have a game/movie night with tacos instead. We can also have a campfire there if the weather permits.

What should I bring on our camp out

The following items are what we recommend for a great camp out experience!

  • Sleeping bag (1 per person)
  • Bed roll or air mattress
  • Tarp to lay under tent
  • Tent
  • Chair for sitting around the fire
  • Flashlights
  • Extra Blankets
  • Pillow
  • Small battery powered LED lantern to hang in the tent
  • Hand towel and soap
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste
  • Toilet Paper
  • Wipes
  • Camera to record all the fun memories
  • Clothes (it could be cold at night and bring extra clothes to change into in case you get wet)
  • Extra water (optional)
  • Snacks (optional, and they should be stored in air tight containers outside of the tent or hanging in bear bags)
  • Bug spray
  • Sun Screen
  • Ideas for a campfire skit or song
  • Rain Gear
  • Knives with Den Leader Approval Only (NOTE: Knives can only be used by boys who pass their Whittling Adventures which are Bears and above. All others will be confiscated!)

FOOD: The pack will supply meals (dinner and breakfast), water, juice, milk and coffee. We will also supply the paper products and utensils too. There will also be S’mores around the campfire after dinner. 

IMPORTANT: Please leave all iPads, tablets, and Video Games at home.

For the new scouts, we always recommend trying to borrow tents, etc, so you can later decide what type is best for you to buy.

About Artillery Ridge

Pack will be camping in their primitive camp sights at the back of the camp near sites 401 & 402. There are flushing toilets a short walk from our site.

This site has a catch and release pond so we can fish along with mini golf and a playground. The pool will be closed.
